U.S COVID Cases are falling in all regions although hot spots remain

Wed, 2021-10-27 06:51 — mike kraft
COVID Cases Keep Falling The number of new daily COVID-19 cases in the United States has plunged 57% since peaking on Sept. 1. Almost as encouraging as the magnitude of the decline is its breadth: Cases have been declining in every region. Forecasting COVID’s future is extremely difficult, and it’s certainly possible that cases will rise again in the coming weeks. But the geographic breadth of the decline does offer reason for optimism. Sign up for The Morning newsletter from the New York Times Past COVID increases have YahooNews

Why even fully vaccinated older people are at high risk for severe COVID-19

Wed, 2021-10-27 00:28 — mike kraft
Why even fully vaccinated older people are at high risk for severe COVID-19 Many factors weaken the aging immune system. But vaccines—and booster doses—do offer protection from hospitalization and death. Science

Mounting data suggest that older people are at higher risk of severe disease from a breakthrough infection of COVID-19—and scientists say that should come as no surprise. After all, older age brackets have been disproportionately at risk throughout the pandemic, and that continues to be true even once someone is fully vaccinated.
